We love Yum! Not only for its convenience and proximity to Fitspace, but because we can rely on the fresh ingredients they use to prepare their meals. Here is what we ordered.
Hanna's meal: Salmon Goddess Salad. (Didn't eat the bread)
Alex's meal: Ahi Tuna burger. Subbed fruit in place of chips. Held the bun, and ordered the watermelon feta side salad instead (see below for comments on this).
To share: Crispy Brussel sprouts
Favorites:
- Delicious and filling food! As someone who works out A LOT (thanks Triathlon!) I was surprised by how full this left me all afternoon. Normally, salads do not do this for me.
- The owner/waitstaff are very personable and connect with their patrons
- Wide variety of menu options--including options for breakfast (until 11am), lunch and dinner.
- Bright atmosphere. The aesthetic here is very Californian, so it can give you the feeling you are on vacation when out for lunch.
- Fresh ingredients. The salad I had tasted like the veggies had come straight from the garden.
- For breakfast, you can order a side salad instead of the normal breakfast potatoes.
Things to improve on:
- While we do love the brightness, the cafe can feel hectic during busy times. So much so that when ordering, Alex became nearly overwhelmed with rushing to order that she didn't end up ordering exactly what she intended for.
- Pro tip: Do your research before you go. That way, you know what to order and won't become sidetracked by all the options.
- There are no gluten-free bread options. So if you do avoid gluten, you will need to avoid the sandwich section of the menu, or ask for no bun. On top of that, there is no option to request a side salad in place of chips, so you will end up spending a bit more if you go the sandwich route but want additional veg.
Overall, will we go back?
- YES! We would love to go back for breakfast or perhaps at a later time than the noon-hour rush to avoid the busyness.
