An Ultimate Success Update: Alison
Alison has been participating in the Ultimate program since January of 2017. She is just completing her 9th round of Ultimate and will be starting her 10th Ultimate program in October. Alison began working with co-owner, Stephanie, after a hip replacement in May of 2008. Alison then suffered an ACL tear skiing in 2015 with repair in 2016. Between pain, weight gain and excuses, Alison knew it was time for a change in her life. She needed to commit to a program to work on her health and fitness that was not intimidating and could accommodate her recently repaired ACL.
After her second hip replacement in May of 2018, Alison took a short break from the Ultimate program while recovering. She credits her speedy recovery and being pain free to the fitness and nutrition habits she formed in the Ultimate program prior to going into surgery.
Alison’s successes in the Ultimate program have been spectacular. Over the past three years, she has lost 35 lbs., 10% of that body fat, for a total body fat loss of almost 20 lbs. In addition to the weight loss, Alison feels that there are many other benefits to participating in the program, such as nutrition education, body awareness, sense of community, and accountability. Alison shares, “Participating in Ultimate is not just about working towards my goals, it’s truly a new lifestyle that keeps me on track and keeps me accountable. I would not work out as often or as hard if I was not in the program.”
Alison enjoys working with the Ultimate trainers who are all very encouraging and helpful and likes how they challenge her in new ways each day of the week. She enjoys meeting new people coming into the program but has also formed many lasting relationships with other long-time participants. “I appreciate working out with like-minded people who motivate me to work harder.”
One of Alison’s hobbies is racing her Audi, which requires core strength, balance and dexterity. After Alison’s second hip replacement, she was racing again 90 days later. “Just having a smaller body mass has made an incredible difference in how easy it is to be comfortable in some endurance races.” She has now moved into team racing.
